Every piece of Dalva Jewelry is handcrafted with love, and somewhat delicate in nature. Handle with care and follow the simple guidelines below to ensure your pieces stay beautiful and last a lifetime.
It is a good idea to remove jewelry while swimming, bathing, exercising and working with household cleaners or chemicals. Avoid storing jewelry in the bathroom because extra moisture will cause some metals to tarnish more quickly.
Gold: Wipe your jewelry gently with a polishing cloth after you have worn it and store it in a cool, dry place. If you would like to restore your jewelry’s lustrous finish, or remove dirt and oil build up on your pieces, use a soft bristle toothbrush and soapy water to remove any signs of tarnish. Then rinse the piece in water and dry, and finish with a polishing cloth. If a much deeper cleaning is needed, we recommend a professional cleaning at your local jeweler.
Silver: Our sterling silver jewelry is always made with the industry standard 92.5 fine silver. Silver tarnishes more easily than gold, but with a little care can be beautiful for a lifetime. Wipe your jewelry gently with a soft cloth after you have worn it. Storing silver jewelry in an airtight bag limits the tarnishing process. If you would like to restore your jewelry’s lustrous finish, a soft bristle toothbrush and soapy water will remove any signs of tarnish. Then rinse the piece in water and dry with a soft cloth.
White Diamonds: White diamonds are very hardy, and can be cleaned safely with a polishing cloth, soap and water, jewelry cleaning solutions and steam and ultrasonic cleaners.
Pearls: Pearls are resilient and meant to be worn, but they are also delicate and require proper care. Pearls are organic gemstones that are sensitive to acids, chemicals, and extremes of humidity. To help retain their radiance, avoid letting your pearl jewelry come in contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume. Be sure to wipe pearls with a soft cloth after every use, which helps remove any chemicals, dirt, or perspiration before storing. Store your pearls separate from other jewelry to avoid scratches on the surface. Ultrasonic cleanser should never be used with pearl jewelry as it can damage the pearls. Instead, if necessary, use a soft bristle toothbrush and soapy water to gently clean, and wear often. Your own body oils help pearls to keep their lustre.
Colored Gemstones: Black diamonds, opals, tourmalines, sapphires, rubies, and all other gemstones should be kept away from high heat, chemicals, oils, perfumes, and household cleaners. Clean your gemstone jewelry using a soft bristle toothbrush and soapy water and dry them immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid using commercial jewelry cleansers, steam or ultrasonic cleaners.
